A pre-teen TorahTutors student had a bit of a déjà vu moment when learning the story of Creation. After working through the six days, she and her tutor reached the seventh day and discussed the idea of active rest. The student read the pesukim about Shabbat slowly, while translating – and knew they sounded familiar, though she couldn’t quite place where she had heard them before. Her tutor read the passage back to her, and as she heard it, the student was able to recognize that she was hearing the words of Friday night kiddush! It was an exciting moment to discover the source of something so familiar and to learn more about what we are saying every Friday night.
The more you learn, the more you know – and the more connections you’ll find!
