While some of our students and teachers are enjoying warmer climates, those in much of the United States have been experiencing some particularly brutal winter weather lately.
I know all about it – I live in Cleveland, Ohio, where the ground in my backyard is markedly higher than usual (What happened to the rest of the slide?!) and there are veritable mountains of snow created in some places by the intrepid snow plows working to clear our streets, driveways, and parking lots. How do they even get all that snow up there? I don’t know, but I’m glad they’re out there doing it and not me, and glad all that snow is out of the road when I do have to go out.
For myself, I prefer cozying up at home this time of year. And what’s warmer or cozier than Torah? With a hot drink, perhaps.
It’s at times like these that I really appreciate the opportunities modern technology offers to do what we need or want to do from the comfort of home. Yes, we want to make sure we’re getting exercise, and I should probably spend a little less time on the couch. But it’s so lovely to get in some Torah learning without having to bundle up, clean off the car, and hope those plows got to our street – and to not have scheduled learning interrupted when the plows just aren’t enough.
What’s your favorite place to learn some Torah?
