Natanya Mann, TorahTutors tutor extraordinaire, writes:
Last Thursday, I had the great opportunity to participate in a siyum, a celebration at the end of a unit of Torah study, with my wonderful student, Tamar, marking the completion of our study of Pirkei Avot.
Every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, Tamar has been taking time from her busy schedule to learn different Torah topics together with me. We have been learning together for three wonderful years, and her devotion and love for Torah is always apparent. Pirkei Avot was an all-time favorite, as its study includes discussing and applying the meaningful lessons of Chazal, the rabbis of old, to all aspects of our lives.
Although I couldn’t celebrate with Tamar in person, I was able to get in touch with her local NCSY advisor, Adina Sorscher, who was a gracious party hostess. Zoom made it possible for me to participate in the evening’s festivities, thought as I live in Yerushalayim, it meant staying up until 3 in the morning! I was so glad to be able to do it.
As I listened to Tamar say a dvar Torah based on the teachings of the mishnayot we had learned together, my heart swelled with pride. I look forward to completing more Torah topics with her.
