A timely Tuesday TorahTutors Tidbit: real Torah from #real TorahTutors sessions.
With current events being what they are, a TorahTutors student recently asked to learn about the Jewish connection to Israel – and Rashi’s famous question and answer, on the very first pasuk of the Torah, naturally made an appearance in the ensuring studies and discussion.
Why does the Torah start with Creation?
So that if the nations of the world say to Israel: “You are robbers, for you conquered the land of seven nations” –
they will say to them: “All the earth belongs to God; He created it, and He gives it as He deems correct.”
Rashi, 11th-century commentator, from R. Yitzchak
